e3 Classroom Technology Presents The e3 Resource Center At The TEC Summer Science Institute
DOVER, Massachusetts (July 09, 2009) - e3 Classroom Technology demonstrated the e3 Resource Center classroom learning device to a group of thirty Middle and High School Science teachers Thursday at the TEC Summer Science Institute.
"The e3 Resource Center (e3RC) is a cost effective and efficient way for students and teachers to exchange assignments and other multimedia classroom materials," said Tom Lynch, President of e3 Classroom Technology. "By providing a demonstration unit for use during the TEC Summer Science Institute, we hope to show teachers what a valuable classroom tool the e3RC can be."
The e3RC is a device about the size of two stacked textbooks, with 24 USB ports. Each student user is given a USB flash drive that is used for document exchange. Each day at the beginning of class, each student plugs their USB flash drive into the e3RC, and files are automatically transferred between the student and teacher. The e3RC allows students to submit homework and receive assignments without using printed handouts, which are expensive and environmentally damaging.
At the TEC Summer Science Institute, a three day regional conference attended by area science teachers, the e3RC was used to distribute copies of presentation materials. Attending teachers were encouraged to plug their USB flash drives into the device at the end of the day and collect the presentation materials used during that day's seminars.
At the end of the conference the founders of e3 Classroom Technology, Tom Lynch, Gary Hamilton, and Danato Borelli made a presentation to the teachers regarding the development of the e3RC. They also solicited feedback on the functionality of the device from the assembled teachers.
e3 Classroom Technology develops educational technology products with a focus on facilitating new learning methods, extending technology into the classroom, and helping schools control printing and copying costs while encouraging sustainable practices.
